Want to join us?
Becoming a member of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes means joining a proud tradition of fellowship, support, and community service. As a Brother, you’ll enjoy the friendship of like-minded individuals, the chance to take part in meaningful charitable work, and the opportunity to strengthen the bonds of fraternity through our lodge meetings and social gatherings. Membership also brings with it a sense of belonging to something bigger – an organisation that values loyalty, charity, and good humour, and which has supported its members and communities for over 200 years.
Membership Requirements
- You must be a man aged at least 18.
- You should be of good character and willing to uphold the values of the RAOB.
- A belief in friendship, charity, and the principles of the Order.
- Willingness to attend lodge meetings and participate in lodge activities.
- Proposed and seconded by existing members of the RAOB.
What, no signup form?
Nope! We do not assess individuals by an application form – rather, we simply meet them and see that they are of good character. This means you can just turn up to one of our meetings! Currock Lodge meetings are held as follows:
Venue: Carlisle Buffs Club, 20 Fisher Street, Carlisle CA3 8RH
Date: Every Thursday
Time: Meeting starts at 20:00*
After attending a few meetings, and if you still want to join our lodge (no pressure!), you will be sponsored by two existing members. A vote will be held and, provided you’re approved, you will be initiated to the first degree of Buffaloism.
* We would advise arriving for your first meeting early. It’s a great way to get to know the buffs and share a pint before joining the lodge.
